My Inside №9 journey started in September 2018. Since the 7th series is out now (April 2022), I thought it might be good timing to draw out thoughts, urging all comedy lovers to dive into this world of twists and well-structured plots.

Every episode is mind-blowing and entertaining at the same time. Inside №9 is a mix of comedy and horror, while the beauty and the seamy side of humanity are portrayed by a thump as one episode ended. The mingling of theatre elements, classical literary works, and culture (including English and other western culture) really makes the series unique and irreplaceable in its own way. It’s hard to imagine how a 30-minute-television-production had enough time to deliver a story and have character development at the same time — well apparently, time is never an issue for talented screenplay writers.

Each episode is somehow linked to the number “9”, and from one episode to another, this is the only common they share. Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton never stop trying out new elements to play with. The era of the story varies from the middle ages all the way to contemporary days, and with the different backgrounds, they manage to see humanity from different POV. From Shakespeare to Greek Myths, the duo shows their wide understanding of literature and plays. Hints and easter eggs are all over the series, making TV-watching itself a puzzle-solving carnival (by the way, there is an episode in which the story surrounds a series of “riddles”, Series 3 Episode 3 — The Riddle of the Sphinx).

Inside №9 is a unique stream of water, flowing gradually at its own pace, serving as a redemption for the audiences who are sick of the mass production from the OTT platforms.

You’ll enjoy this series if you are:

  1. Black humor and comedy lover.
  2. Western classical literature and play enthusiast.
  3. Adores sarcasm and enjoys criticising the world.
  4. Always busy.
  5. Seeking refreshing and inspiring content through TV.
